MĀORI HERITAGE SITES ADDED TO UNITARY PLANTe Whatu was a waka mooring site at the present-day intersection of Shortland and Queen Streets. Te Toangaroa is the place a bloody battle was fought at what is now Parnell Rise, and Te Reuroa – a former pā site – is known to Aucklanders today as Albert Park. Auckland Council’s Heritage Unit and iwi Ngāti Pāoa are delighted that these are among 14 heritage sites newly added to the Unitary Plan under Schedule 12. They are now afforded recognition and protection as places that Mana Whenua of Tāmaki Makarau regard as culturally and historically significant. Ngāti Pāoa’s successful additions mean that there are now 75 Sites and Places of Significance to Mana Whenua protected under the schedule..... ourauckland.aucklandcouncil.govt.nz/articles/news/2016/12/maori-heritage/

Funny how the stone wall in the Waipaua forest has had a 75 year ban on research until 2063, because this would blow the maoris claims of "we were here first" out of the water, yet any BS theory about parking a canoe somewhere demands respect and protection. More evidence that the govt and the treaty troughers are denying us our right to the real truthful history of this country and forcing this BS at our expense, onto us that really has no significance whatsoever. BTW.."bloody battle" = canibalism, murder, rape and all those other 'cultural' things that we are not allowed to mention any more. Maori...rewriting our history since the 1970's.
