Beachfront restaurant forced to close after Maori bones discoveredPlans for a beachfront restaurant at one of Auckland's most scenic spots have been abandoned indefinitely, following the discovery of Maori bones and artefacts. After a more than two-year saga the popular restaurant at Long Bay Regional Park north of the city will now not be rebuilt. The decision to halt all work follows two discoveries of koiwi or pre-European bones and another of bone awls (tools) and shell beads, all of which delayed the planned refurbishment.
