PARTNERSHIP IS THE MESSAGE ON WAITANGI DAYHe says while Waitanga Day is a day to celebrate how far we’ve come it’s also a day to acknowledge what work still needs to be done “I spoke about partnership which is one of our principals of the treaty and I challenged everybody here asking ‘are we really in a true partnership here, ask yourselves, are we there yet?,” says Tamati. “Around 179 years ago we signed that treaty yet 90 per cent of the thousands of people gathered here didn’t understand the karakia, the mihi or understand any of the Te Reo Maori spoken, so how far have we really come?” He also took the opportunity to talk politics, by mentioning that there are no Maori councillors on Tauranga City Council, and the Western Bay of Plenty District Council. “We had the Maori Wards korero last year and the community voted against it, so we continue as Maori to try to get representation but the community turns us down, so do we really have that partnership?” he says...... www.sunlive.co.nz/news/199256-partnership-is-message-on-waitangi-day.html

STOP TELLING LIES!!! There was no partnership. Unless someone can show us where it states that in the 1840 signed treaty. Anyone? No? Thought so. So STOP telling lies and mixing up what maori would like as opposed to what was signed. Sunlive....aka SunLIES , is a joke of a paper. It used to be good and allowed free speech, then slowly but surely the pro-maori contributors were able to use language and names for the ones who opposed their views. They never participated in a debate like an adult and like all losers in arguments, behaved like spoiled children. Name calling became common, but only on one side. Then opposing views were denied and now SunLIES has become a PC propaganda outlet for maori lies. As of this year, our copy goes straight into the recycle bin and I have asked the boy delivering it, to not deliver it at my address. I think it is down to the free speech editor retiring and being replaced by an imbecile who has come through our pro-maori education system.

Editor retiring - that is sad as he was one of the few that would publish both sides of the debate

Yes. He allowed debate as long as it was civilized. Now, there is hardly any debate allowed by SunLIES and even the TRUTH is regarded as racist. SunLIES is only good for the recycle bin now.
