OTAGO REGIONAL COUNCILWe acknowledge the special position of tangata whenua within the region. A 'Memorandum of Understanding and Protocol' is in place between Otago Regional Council and local iwi - Te Runanga o Ngai Tahu and Aukaha. Otago’s environment holds many values for Aukaha and Ngai Tahu, ranging from the spiritual to the practical. Its place-names are a record of the history, traditions, and customs. Our region’s coast is still a major source of food, livelihood, and recreation for many..... www.orc.govt.nz/our-council-our-region/our-region/iwi

Anyone with half a brain would realise that hardly any maori lived in the area, because of the temperature. Now the maori mafia are holding their fat paws out in expectation of some kind of freebie from the rate/tax payers.
