TREATY PARTNERSHIP & MAORI LANGUAGE FAIRYTALES
R P writes > There is nothing written or implied in the Treaty of Waitangi about a 'partnership, and yet governments have been pushing a partnership narrative since the 1980s.
As for Te Reo it is a 19th century missionary invention made up of Maori, Rarotongan, and English corruption. The grammar, syntax and vowel inflection are European and were you to speak it to an 18th century Maori he would understand barely a word.
It is a fairytale language and a fairytale culture that part Maoris are welcome to indulge in, but please don't expect the rest of us to participate.
