$34.6M TO SUPPORT TE REO MĀORI REVIVALThree funds in this year’s Budget 2016 will contribute towards increasing the number of proficient Māori language speakers. $12 million over four years has been set aside to establish and fund the operations of Te Mātāwai, a new Crown independent entity established under the Māori Language Act 2016. An additional $12 million over four years has been allocated for Te Reo Māori Whānau and Community language planning. The Māori Television Service (MTS) will also receive $10.6 million over the next four years to reach a wider audience to ultimately fulfil its objective of increasing the use of our reo rangatira amongst whānau and communities….. www.scoop.co.nz/stories/PA1605/S00512/346m-to-support-te-reo-maori-revival.htm

...and a mere 39.3 million dollars for bowel cancer screening that helps all kiwis. When will the penny drop...if people really want to learn maori, they will. Most maori can't be bothered. However bowel cancer screening is nowhere near as important as keeping the life support running on a dying maori language.
