PRINCIPALS HAPPY TOMORROW'S SCHOOLS REFORMED, NOT REPLACED President Whetu Cormick says the focus seems to be on support and advisory services for teachers and principals, rather that wholesale changes to school governance. He says the report makes an effort to address inequities in Maori success rates. “Kura kaupapa Maori and kohanga reo have been awesome and has brought about beautiful success for those young people who have been there but they’re only a small proportion of our people, our kids who are in kura, most of our young people are in English medium schools, typically being taught by Pakeha teachers and Pakeha principals so we have to do something different in those schools,” Mr Cormick says...... www.waateanews.com/waateanews/x_news/MjMxMTU/Principals-happy-Tomorrow%27s-Schools-reformed,-not-replaced
