THIS IS ABOUT THE ELEPHANT IN THE ROOMS OF EVERY HOUSEHOLD IN THIS NATION.
I really do not like to keep hammering the subject of the Maori/European dichotomy - but the media and government are giving it full noise all day every day - so I have to respond.
My question today is:- are Maori denied access to any part or benefit of the European Culture as it functions in this Nation of ours today - and should they be awarded greater access to it than anyone else on the basis of their ethnicity?
Reasonable question - or not?
I believe in telling the truth. However - it does fascinate me that there is an entire cast of people - a veritable industry - the shadowy cockroaches of distorted language - composed largely of academic, governmental and media people, who devote all their energies to suppressing truth - and replacing it with outright lies, omissions, distortions of the truth and nonsense.
They call it Political Correctness. It is always political - and correct by the lunatic ideas of the moment - and that could change with fashion.
I have to say - that I have known and indeed liked some people who were completely and habitually politically correct - and I have to tell them now while I am still here alive in my life - that I always held a certain contempt for them - and saw them on certain levels as liars and cheats. Oh I tried to make room for their foibles in my otherwise addled brain - but it never really worked. I always had less respect for them than the honest normal people. So sorry folks - I do have to be truthful. I’m too old and tired to tell you lies to make you feel better. If you are a politically correct person - in or out of my life - I have very little respect for you - because a lot of what ails Western Society today, is down to your pathetic dishonesty, and amazing ability to look reality in the eye and immediately turn to the person next to you and lie about it.
The truth - no matter how difficult to swallow - is vital to the future - and more so now because of what is to follow here. He Puapua is a document (among others) that seems to suggest that Maori Culture and people of Maori ancestry - should be in full control of the European Culture and economy - including the lives of all non-Maori people alive in this Sovereign Nation of ours today.
We are talking about a Sovereign Nation currently ruled by the Westminster Parliamentary System - that is based on universal suffrage - but any good person may well wonder.
Here is the reality behind that, and I feel uncomfortable telling the truth on this level - because it will make many of us - who are tainted by political correctness feel decidedly uncomfortable.
What I am about to say however - is entirely truthful - and I am prepared to be this truthful - because New Zealand is at a fork in the road to the future - and the proper and correct road to follow is stretched out before us and is obvious - paved and safe and lined with opportunities for all.
The other fork is unpaved - being pushed by Leftist and Maori interests - and is unplanned - potholed - and lined with lies, resentment and false promises.
New Zealand considers itself a sovereign Nation. Any sovereign Nation must include ALL - of its people as its responsibility. We have built that nation on the concept of equality and the rejection of racism - and yet this Labour/Green/Maori Government wants to move away from the concept of equality for all, to something very different. They want to give control of all - to 15% of the population based on their ethnicity.
Tell me I’m wrong if you want - and explain to me how that is not a classic example of institutionalised racism while you are at it.
Everything they are proposing will no longer be equality for all. It is a contradiction in terms. I often ask - what is it we do not understand about all this?
If you voted Left - you need to get your act together and understand that this Nation is actually built on lies - and you are a supporter of those lies - and you repeat them every day.
I am in my usual blunt way trying to pull the bones out of this issue before we swallow it and choke on it. This is about culture, and what it is, and where it came from. It is about culture as we know it, experience it and live it every day of our lives - and what it used to be in the distant past.
There are two pictures with this essay. One that shows Maori habitation before the Europeans arrived here in this land of ours. The other picture shows the stark contrast between that Maori habitation of old - and the habitation that Maori expect to live in today, as they live their part in the Great Global Civilisation that everyone else on the planet aspires to.
Note well:- that the older picture - was obviously taken after the invention of photography (1855) - at least fifteen years after the signing of the Treaty of Waitangi. It is not a painting - it is a photograph - a chemically produced actual image of an actual event. It shows a Maori man resting in front of a grass hut - and you should also notice in the photograph - a blanket and an axe - neither of which were part of Maori Culture prior to the arrival of the European.
So we can see - that even at the time when this picture was taken - this Maori man had received some of the early benefits from the arrival of the European. An axe and a blanket. They would have been the very first things he would want to acquire. Imagine trying to cut wood without an axe - or keep warm without a blanket - and also imagine how much more versatile an axe would be as a weapon - in a fight with a man armed with a taiaha or mere.
So we are talking about Culture here - as it was when Europeans first arrived - and one of the things we hear about all the time - are Maori cultural mores. Ask yourself - what were the cultural values, and necessities of life for the Maori man in this photograph - before the blanket and the axe arrived?
See how all this makes you feel uncomfortable?
But none the less - you can see the truth buried in it - can’t you? That uncomfortable feeling is the after-effects of political correctness - and remember where that mostly comes from.
Academics, Politicians and Media.
Seems to me - that as stark as that contrast of those photographs is - we have to recognise that this is the bones of any discussion we must have about culture in New Zealand today 2021 - in this sovereign Nation of ours.
So what about that Great Global, Society, Culture and civilisation that we all live in today?
We talk these days about the necessities of life. Is that Maori habitation in that photograph indicative of pre-European necessities of Life for that Maori man? Well is it? If we are going to talk about this you need to have the courage to answer that question. I know it makes you feel uncomfortable - because you - or his decedents - would not wish such habitation on any one.
So what are the necessities of life now - and where did they come from?
Well how about this:- let’s say that all families need and expect a weather proof three bedroomed house - with electricity and potable water laid on. It needs a place to get regular food supplies and money to purchase them. Everyone needs warm clothes and the means to keep them clean and blanket to sleep under on a nice comfortable bed. They are just the basis of a reasonable life - and then there’s the stuff outside the home. Where do they come from?
Yeah I know - this is just basic stuff aye.
Do we include a car - and the means to run it - and schooling for the kids and the ability to read and write? The TV and radio and the oven in the kitchen - and the fridge to keep the food fresh. How about a universal health system - that is capable of finding cures for new diseases and places where they can put you to sleep - cut you open - and fix old faults.
Someone old like me sure knows what that means to the needs of life.
So when we reach out to the rest of the world - which culture will provide the where-with-all to send a kapa haka group to the United Nations to celebrate their indigenous peoples thing. All very well having a document about this - but how did it get written - and what with - and what provided the alphabet and the paper and the machine to do all that - and then transmit it to the entire planet in less than a moment? It sure wasn’t the culture of the man with the blanket and axe he borrowed from another culture.
Should we call THAT cultural appropriation?
We all know this is all true - but why do I feel uncomfortable writing this stuff down on a computer - and putting it on the internet and making it available to anyone who can read - and work a computer - and why do you feel uncomfortable reading it?
Who was it who taught the decedent’s of the man in the picture to read? Someone did - but why do I feel uncomfortable saying that?
We all now the answer:- But politically correct conditioning has made us feel uncomfortable in the presence of truth - and the truth of all this was and is - that it all came from European Culture. European Culture introduced Maori to the Civilisation - and then schooled him in it and shared it with him. But Political correctness has contaminated all modern discourse on this subject to the point where it cannot be discussed in a public forum without threats of intimidation and violence. It has become ridiculous.
So ask yourself - why are we all made to feel uncomfortable about telling what is obviously the truth - and how could today’s Maori survive without all these necessities of life that arrived with the Europeans - who generally speaking feel uncomfortable even mentioning this obvious reality? Why?
Will someone please tell me why.
Why is it that we are expected to allow the people of this culture - that is now mostly made up and functioning as it does today using all the things undoubtedly brought by our European culture - including the English language that EVERY Maori speaks - to dominate the very culture that not only outnumbers them - but that has lifted each and every one of them up from that grass hut past.
Are they mad - are we mad - or are we all mad - and where the hell is all this going to go?
We all of us - have to remember - that this modern cultural evolution we live in the midst of - and all its social, scientific and industrial innovation - is, in the future, going is to continue to emanate out of the Global culture - that had its genesis in Europe. It is going to continue changing the way we live - with new innovations every day into the future. Are Maori going to expect special rights to all that as well - when they will obviously contribute very little or nothing to it?
And we have to all remember and factor in to this - the fact that they get to live in and enjoy all the many benefits of this European culture - that in fact matches and sometimes exceeds that of all the nations of the Western European world - through every day of their lives to the same degree as those of us of European extraction - and including all the immigrants to this sovereign nation as well.
While they get to enjoy it as the same level of the rest of us mere mortals - much of what they enjoy will still come from Europe and the USA - and now China and Japan - all highly developed global cultures. Maori culture as it is lived will contributes nothing at all to that.
If any of the above is not true - please get some politically correct individual to tell me where and how.
Time to grow some balls New Zealand - and recognise reality and stand up - and push back.
