A PROTEST: - BRING THE COUNTRY TO ITS KNEES AND WAKE THE POLITICIANS UP
R K writes > Yesterday James Shaw was all over the last remaining radio station's (generally) honest talkback show as having planned a trip to Scotland for the 28th climate change conference. He was flying of course and leaving an emissions trail of approx 30,000 L of jet fuel to get there while the rest of us can stay at home and walk or ride bikes because they want to shut down the fossil fuel world.
Further, he can travel 12.000 km in a full public aircraft and we all have to stay at home because of covid. The hypocrisy is breathtaking.
If Collins or Seymour had done a fraction of this the media would have been all over it, but I waited and waited and not a word was to be heard on our main news channel at prime time. It was all the usual covid garbage chock full of facts and figures which are meaningless and which we don't need to know.
But anything to keep the news focused on covid, take it away from the real issues like 3 waters, council ward rorts, hate speech, borrowing billions of dollars so it can be wasted, separate health and justice authorities, etc. No they don't want to talk about that, they keep it all under wraps and feed us slush like covid testing numbers intermingled with childish taxpayer funded cartoons of Maori kids under showers emitting sludge, as if that happens anywhere in the country.
This is more than a disgrace. Every single one of us needs to be concerned at the corruption all around us, in our regional and national government, the major Govt departments, the universities and the schools, the utilities, the press and the media in general.
This is a frightening spotlight on the corruption that exists in our society, something we only associated with rotten Aussie and US politicians. It is here, and it is here in spades.
Last night was a very real example of what we are up against.
Lets keep at it and devise a protest that this time, will bring the country to its knees and wake them all up. Someone must be working on it, we can't continue like this.
