IWI PLACES RĀHUI OVER URENUI RIVER IN THE WAKE OF SEWAGE CONTAMINATION A rāhui preventing swimming and shellfish gathering has been put in place at the Urenui River in North Taranaki, as investigations into human waste in the stormwater continue. “The rāhui has been placed over the Urenui Awa from Okoki Pa (Te Rangi Hiroa/Sir Peter Buck Memorial) to the river mouth to take effect from Saturday 12th November 2020," Ngāti Mutunga, the kaitiaki (caretakers) of the area, said in an emailed statement.
