HOLIDAYS AND OTHER RORTING
Ms Ardern. thankfully for Kiwis, has been an invisible woman since pre-Christmas till now, the best seven weeks for yonks. Meanwhile, looks like she has become obsessed with things part-Maori on her sojourn outside the parliamentary confines since Parliament recessed on December 9 and reconvening on February 9.
The hit list includes on December 18, Ms Mahuta decreeing that commissioners would be appointed to TCC (what real justification?) followed on February 1 with a pronouncement trashing Maori ward petition laws without Parliament's consent, then the Government splurges $150 million taxpayer money into an investment fund as a Ngapuhi negotiation sweetener. Then into the mix on December 17 comes the duplicity of the Ihurnatao deal. costing mega-millions, plus last week Little made 4 East Coast MACA alienations outside the High Court domain, all of which must have had the nod from Ms Ardern.
Suddenly, right on cue having arisen from her slumber, up to the plate steps Ms Ardern herself with the Covid Matariki Maori holiday brain fade announcement, scheduled for June 24.2022 (say what? A Maori New Year indeed, in the middle of winter). She can't specify dates for future years coz it's a moving target. but decrees they will be on Mondays or Fridays.
This creative New Year antic looks to have been re-invented / repackaged by the Maori Language Commission in 2001. It refers to nothing more than the very bright seven-star cluster known as Pleiades, so should be called Pleiades' Bright Stars Day.
Enough about this arrant nonsense. Let's move on to the real thrust - we apparently need a winter holiday between Queen's Birthday, June 6, 2022 (Queen's actual birth date is April 21, 1926) and Labour Day, October 29, 2022. A time span of 145 days, so Ms Ardern picks the date of June 24, 2022, just 18 days after QBW, still leaving 127 days without a break Wakey wakey, hello, is anyone home?
If anyone seriously wants a winter break as opposed to simply placating part-Maori interests you would go for mid-August 2022, the half-way mark.
Clearly Ms Ardern doesn't seem to know what time of day it is, can't count days, and yet she is orchestrating New Zealand's economic wellbeing carrying a $200 billion Covid debt mountain. God help us with this 'wheel is spinning but hamster dead' mentality. Frankly she seems more intent on horoscopes, astrology stargazing and appeasing the Maori gods than looking after the interests of the 85 per cent irrelevant Kiwi majority. My advice to Ms Ardern shape up or get out
Everything here falls into the category of governing by stealth. attempting to slither under the radar, and all Kiwis need to speak out and refuse to tolerate this autocratic furtiveness.
PS: Where the hell is a Vlad the Impaler when you need him to help focus the dodgy polls who look to be taking their cue from Rasputinesque influences. beavering away over the holidays well out of the public gaze?
