TARANAKI REGIONAL COUNCIL VOTES TO HEAR PUBLIC FEEDBACK BEFORE DECIDING ON MĀORI CONSTITUENCYTaranaki Regional councillors have voted to consult with the community before deciding whether to establish a Maori constituency in time for 2022 local body elections. At a full council meeting on Tuesday, the nine councillors present unanimously supported having Māori representation around the council table but were at odds on how this should be achieved. After a long discussion on four options, councillors chose to give the public the opportunity to provide feedback on their preferred option of creating a Māori constituency. www.stuff.co.nz/pou-tiaki/300237522/taranaki-regional-council-votes-to-hear-public-feedback-before-deciding-on-mori-constituency
