CORE TENET IN TREATY PREAMBLE
R N writes > Nowhere is the Machiavellian inventiveness of the Treaty zealots more apparent than in the complete absence of reference to the Treaty’s preamble—an integral but completely ignored aspect of this much-manipulated and deviously exploited document.
Perfectly happy to choose to misinterpret court decisions and claim a non-existent ‘partnership’ with the Crown, the Treaty zealots completely ignore a core tenet of the most important principle spelled out in the Treaty’s preamble. One hundred and twenty-two words into the 216-word-long single sentence is the actual core principle of everything that follows, and that is:
‘…to establish a settled form of Civil Government with a view to avert the evil consequences which must result from the absence of the necessary Laws and Institutions alike to the native population and to Her subjects…’
The Crown wanted to ‘avert the evil consequences which must result…’ without having the same laws and institutions for all.
The destruction of democracy and introduction of two sets of laws and institutions we are now seeing are the ‘evil consequences’ specifically warned against at the time. We are having our primary social structures and institutions like health and education divided, funded and supported—not on the basis of need or valid evidence, but on the basis of race—the very evils the Treaty intended to avoid.
The Treaty is actually a very good and fair document whose simple articles unambiguously make it clear it is about equality—with the aim of having one set of laws and institutions for all—regardless of race.
Despite the fact that nowhere in Treaty is the word ‘partnership’ expressed or implied, the Treaty Zealots have deliberately misinterpreted and carefully manipulated the term into public acceptance as a matter of perceived ‘fact’—most recently supported by a radical and self-interested group of racist politicians taking advantage of the public’s reluctance to be seen as ‘racist’.
Few people are even aware of what the respective Treaty articles actually state, yet government departments bend over backwards in order to live up to the non-existent ‘partnership’ they deludedly believe to be part of the Treaty.
Daring to challenge this absurdity is to draw cries of racism. In fact, exactly the opposite is true. Decent and thinking New Zealanders—of every race—refuse to accept that there should be different laws established on the basis of race. It is those who suggest otherwise who are the real racists.
Decent New Zealanders have always considered themselves a single population; comprised of different nationalities and ethnicities, for sure—but all New Zealanders. No longer, it seems. Every day some new scheme is announced that funds, prioritises, supports or champions …. pretty much anything that is proposed as being Māori-related, at the expense of second-class ‘all others’.
Ignoring rapidly plummeting literacy and numeracy standards (for all), a desperately overloaded health system (for all), a virtually non-existent mental health system (for all), and increasing anarchy and crime statistics, the government and public agencies instead pour billions into seemingly endless successions of ridiculous initiatives, such as developing an all-Māori-language course for car mechanics! Quite how this will benefit trainees in this field in the real world is not questioned. Questioning such stupidity (as many commentators have done) is quickly silenced by accusations of racism.
Our nation’s children are becoming increasingly illiterate and will soon be unable to compete against properly educated competing applicants in any field…but never mind; they will undoubtedly be able to recite Māori legends and perform a brilliant haka; exactly the traits that the likes of NASA, Microsoft, Lockheed and Boeing will be looking for….not!
The bastardisation of English in New Zealand with the random insertion of Māori words and phrases for no good reason other than to signal a speaker’s virtuous wokeness is destroying people’s ability to communicate effectively. The purpose of any language is, surely, to communicate with other people.
It would make sense if the insertion of Māori were to describe or name something for which no English word(s) existed. However, the reality is the exact opposite; there are no words in Māori for most aspects of the modern world. Indeed, this was one of the (outrageously stupid, time consuming and expensive) challenges for the ultra-woke polytechnic that elected to develop a complete course for mechanics in te reo—the need to invent/bastardise/transliterate virtually every aspect of the course. All because a single individual expressed a desire to have his course in Māori (and of course, we must accede to his request, lest we be thought of as racist).
It is almost as if the Treaty zealots are trying to outdo each other to see who can come up with the most outlandish new demand; just to see how far they can push their invented ‘partnership’ agenda and just how much money they can extract without being challenged.
I am beginning to wonder whether anything will ever be too much. How long will it be before non-Māori are dispossessed of their properties for being the ‘wrong’ race, as they are in places like Zimbabwe and South Africa?
If the current Mahuta-led, Ardern-fronted government is re-elected in 2023, tribal rule and its inevitable discord and in-fighting will transform New Zealand into an impoverished, even more corrupt, third-world state.
