Maori do not have exclusive ownership of swirly patterns. The letters 'H' & 'A' & 'K' are not belonging to some ancient maori alphabet because they never had one. These letters were stolen from the english alphabet for which we have never received any compensation. Also, maori are happy to take from other ciultures and pretend it's their thing ( many maori youth identify with american rappers more than maori ), so stop being so precious about a bit of stoneage ballet that many kiwis find embarrassing.
