MASSEY UNIVERSITY GRANTED $2.87 MILLION FOR MĀORI LANDSCAPE CLASSIFICATION RESEARCHMassey University researchers have received approval for $2,870,000 to go to a Māori landscape classification research project. The proposal, He Tātai Whenua: A Te Ao Māori landscape classification, sets out to create an international standard for the translation of indigenous cultural and historical knowledge into data structures. The successful proposal's description from MBIE says for many centuries Māori had observed "every aspect" of the world around them. Māori had a 1000-year history of occupation of New Zealand and a unique relationship with the environment and its sustainability, it says. "Mātauranga Māori, or Māori expert knowledge in relation to Papatuanuku (our earthly environment) and in relation to kaitiakitanga (stewardship of the environment), offers a potentially powerful pathway leading to revitalisation and reconnection for all New Zealanders to our whenua at a time when global ecological concerns are increasingly relevant." We propose to synthesise a Te Ao Māori landscape classification that can be directly integrated into existing Geographical Information Systems .. www.stuff.co.nz/dominion-post/news/97437122/Massey-University-granted-2-87-million-for-M-ori-landscape-classification-research?cid=app-iPhone

Kaupapa purpose (and more)Kaupapa kau means - two parts - ka and u - ka is like an activator - it sets you in space and time - u - is like the idea to grasp something … kaupapa and - the papa part reminds you of your whakapapa - which reminds you of your connection to Papatuanku - the Earth Mother - the deity - the divine personality which is our Earth - and she then connects us back to Io-matua-kore - our parentless one - who was the first child if you like of pure potential energy … that Māori track back to the source energy - the source of everything. She said that we need to fundamentally realise that from way back up until now that we need to grasp the idea that we are a divine spark - so from that awareness, what are we to do? What is our kaupapa? Catherine says that upon this spark realisation - she is not going to be small … she is not here to waste time It's just “pono”: Truth...... www.ourplanet.org/greenplanetfm/catherine-murupaenga-ikenn-maori-cosmology-the-fractal-universe-quantum-consciousness-awakening
