MEETING IWI VALUES CRUCIAL TO SUCCESSFinding a framework for a proposed Remarkables National Park that addresses Ngai Tahu’s concerns is a key to the park’s creation, a proponent says. Federated Mountain Clubs (FMC) president Peter Wilson says he is as optimistic about the park’s long-term prospects as he was last June, when FMC and Forest & Bird launched their campaign to lobby for the proposal. FMC had discussed the proposal with Ngai Tahu and was keen to continue the talks to explore how to better address iwi values in the park’s framework, Mr Wilson said. He was encouraged by an agreement reached by four Taranaki iwi as part of Treaty of Waitangi settlement negotiations that would give them sovereignty over land within Egmont National Park. That provided a model that could be applied to the Remarkables proposal, he said...... www.odt.co.nz/regions/queenstown/meeting-iwi-values-crucial-success

Pre 1840, "iwi values" consisted of murder, cannibalism, slavery and wiping out species of birds. Iwi ( iwi.... stands for 'I want It') are just greedy bully maori mafia, and I will tell you about a friend of mine who was involved with Forest & Bird in the 90's. F&B took some rare native birds from down south and bred them on some islands near Auckland. When they had enough birds to return to the South Island, all the people involved paid their own airfares to see the birds released back into the South Island wild because all the money from donations went to the birds, not the volunteers. However the maori mafia demanded free travel to open the box and release the birds, for the TV cameras that would be present. The maori mafia did not contribute to the breeding programme or the predator eradication or anything. But because they were maori and could no doubt talk with the birds, they had special nature powers that dumb pakeha don't understand. So, the mafia got free travel and hotels and food and stole all the glory with zero contribution, while the volunteers who did all the work, paid their own way, and hardly got a mention. That is how it works in this sad country where NOBODY is allowed to challenge these thugs. These arrogant types of racist maori with their never-ending sense of entitlement and uniqueness and importance see themselves as our national treasures, but in reality are our national embarrassments.
