PUT A STOP TO THE RACISM THAT IS DIVIDING OUR PEOPLE.
P R writes > The Treaty of Waitangi is regarded by many in New Zealand as this countries founding document and was signed between the people of New Zealand and the Crown. This document has been twisted and distorted by politicians and governments over the years to supposedly create a partnership between Maori and the Crown, but this is not true. Under the constitution, the Crown cannot enter into a partnership with any of its subjects, so this partnership does not exist.
This being the case why are government promoting the term partnership in educational material teaching our children lies and distorting our history? The treaty of Waitangi granted the people of New Zealand both Maori and Pakeha the same rights and privileges as all other subjects of the Crown nothing more. To teach otherwise is a distortion of the truth and introduces racism into the education of our children.
New Zealand is one nation made up of a diverse range of peoples and customs from around the world, no one race can claim ownership. To believe differently is to promote apartheid and history has shown this to be disastrous around the world.
We are all New Zealanders of different ethnic backgrounds who are privileged to live in one of the most beautiful countries in the world, racism has no place here. If our government continue down the path of promoting racism under the lie of partnership, then we are heading down a very dangerous path of no return.
The recent results on race-based seats in local government outline the feelings of the majority as not being acceptable so why continue down this path, the majority have spoken accept it and move on.
No one wins from racism only those in positions of power gain from it and it is the everyday New Zealander who must pay. The Treat of Waitangi was signed in good faith as being a treaty where all people were equal, but this is not the case in New Zealand today.
Until government stop the cash cow that is the Waitangi Tribunal and stop paying out billions of dollars on race-based settlements then as a country we cannot move forward. A democracy dictates that the will of the people is paramount and the majority of people in New Zealand are fed up with having to pander to the minority. It is time for our elected representatives in government to decide the path forward for this country and to put a stop to the racism that is dividing our people.
We are one people New Zealanders, not Maori or Pakeha but New Zealanders and this is the only way forward, we either embrace one people or suffer the consequences of racism and hatred that will only destroy us as a Nation.
