MAORI ELDERS HAD RIGHT IDEA
D W writes > Maori elders in the early 1900s had the right idea. Maori was spoken and learned in the home, English was learned at school.
Many Maori like to complain how their parents were punished and caned for speaking Maori at school, but it was their own elders that pushed for this because they knew it was important to be fluent in the language used by everyone else in the country. (man in blue jeep)
