MĀORI TOURISM CENTRE EARMARKED FOR THE HAMILTON GARDENSA new Māori tourism centre planned near the Hamilton Gardens is being viewed as a game changer for boosting the city's tourism industry. Waikato Tainui would control the land where the tourism centre would reside while the management of the centre would be contracted out to a company such as Haka Maori Cultural Experience, run by Craig and Lee Ann Muntz. The plan was put forward in a submission by the iwi on the Hamilton City Council's planned re-vamp of the Gardens. Mayor Andrew King backed the venture. He said Tainui wanted the land to be close enough to the Waikato River's bank, so it could launch a waka as part of the tourism experience...... www.stuff.co.nz/waikato-times/news/115335337/mori-tourism-center-earmarked-for-the-hamilton-gardens
