TRIBES CLOSING WALKING TRACKS
K H writes > Iwi closing public tracks is happening all over. In the North, they use the convenient excuse of kauri dieback - even though there's no scientific proof it's caused by humans, and not the wind, rain, birds, etc.........but I understand scientists have suggested a DNA weakness in the trees that get it! Aucklanders can't enjoy lengthy hikes in the Waitakeres anymore, and North Shore-ites are blocked off/banned from Okura Bush Walkway which had big money spent on boardwalks, gravel & cleaning station well before the rahui. The sign says DOC is improving the track but nothing has been done in 18 mths! When do we get to use our land, exercise & commune with nature? Click to enlarge
