P T writes > ENGLISH IS OUR NATION’S NATIONAL LANGUAGE.
We are only successful as a community to the extent that we have a successful economy.
I know woke maorification ideologists, nutter greens and labour do not identify with that statement but they will be gone mid October.
Our National language is the language of education, the language of economics, the language of learning, the language of books and libraries.
English is the language of justice and the law.
It is the language of business and commerce.
It is the language of the economy.
It is the language of success.
English is the international language of commerce, business, diplomacy, of conferences, of peace and unity, of international education and learning.
Te Reo will never be in that position despite the woke, artificial, propagandish, spin promotion thats going-on around te reo in the international arena. A total waste of the taxpayers money.
Māori as a race is on the cusp of extinction; today’s modern Māori have next-to-no Māori/Polynesian DNA in their blood stream.
Māori is a culture club.
Iwi is a political construct; they are privately owned unelected businesses.
Māori are not indigenous to New Zealand. They came from Polynesia.
Their language, Te Reo, is also on the cusp of extinction. Approx 1% of the nations population speak it.
Ramming it down our throats nightly on propaganda tv1 news is never going to facilitate its survival.
It angers the citizenry who will go out of their way to not be associated with te Reo.
Teaching it in school will only contribute to further failing literacy and numeracy outcomes.
Making te Reo an “official” language is solely a manifestation of the governments commitment to its survival.
It is exactly the same as Ardern’s declaration of a climate emergency and doing absolutely nothing about it. “Official” classification is solely virtue signalling. It is silly, it is irrelevant, it will achieve nothing.
Te Reo will never become our National language.
And what is the driver? We are nothing without the economy. The economy’s engine room is our National language: English. That will never change.
However, having said that, if Iwi want to invest in it, and the culture club wants to learn it, speak it, then go for it.
