NEARLY $29 MILLION SPENT ON TREATY NEGOTIATION COSTSTreaty settlement negotiations have cost taxpayers nearly $29 million since 2011, with nearly $400,000 of that going to Governor-General Dame Patsy Reddy. The figures, obtained under the Official Information Act (OIA), show private lawyers and law firms have been paid more than $8.7m in negotiations work. Crown negotiator costs equalled $6.1m between 2011 and January 30, 2017.
