MOST KIWIS ARE NOT AWARE OF THE DEPTH OF RACIAL PREFERENCE IN NZ
As far as race-based seats in Parliament are concerned (and councils) there are too many there on the side of the Maori so that even if a Bill were to be introduced, it could not get a majority.
With all the race-based inequalities set in legislation, it will be a very long job trying to reverse this, since they are all intertwined through many separate Acts so that no single enactment could nullify them - it will be a very complex business with huge detail since each Act will have to be treated separately, with a massive number of complicated sub-sections covering all related Acts, by-laws, etc.
For example the racial side of the RMA is built in to several hundred other bits and pieces - all the individual council's rules and regulations as well as all the various Maori Trust thingies under the Treaty provisions separately right through the country - as well as all the precedents that have been set in the various courts - it will be a nightmare that nobody will want to touch, for they know it will drag on for decades.
With the race-based WINZ and 'special' Maori services provisions, neither major party will want to disturb these since it would cost them too many votes at the next election. The majority of Kiwis are just not aware of the depth of the problem.
The main thing to hope for at the moment is the ceasing of further 'giving in' to their increasing demands - both National and Labour are guilty of that, so it is up to Winnie to put the brakes on. Reversing some of the inequalities already in place will come eventually, but it is going to be a long hard uphill battle.
