TEACHERS' COUNCIL NEEDS MAORI SEAT Principal's Federation chair Whetu Cormick says there needs to be a formal seat for Maori on the revamped Education Council. The Federation is welcoming a bill to turn the ministerially-appointed Education Council into the Teaching Council with a mix of elected and appointed members. Mr Cormick says it's a sign of trust that teachers will have a say in who sits on their main professional body. He will make a submission to Education Minister Chris Hipkins on the need for a Maori position...... www.waateanews.com/waateanews/x_story_id/MTgyOTk=/Teachers%27%20council%20needs%20Maori%20seat
