MAORI FORCING CUSTOMS & CULTURE ON EVERYONE
My (Paul Rea) last article posted with the heading ‘something to ponder” has certainly received a lot of comments most of a favourable nature. Only a few diehard NZ First supporters tried to argue that their party was the only one that was doing anything in parliament to stop racism etc, but they must be either blind, deaf or both as we have had promise after promise from Winston and NZ First and they have delivered nothing. The referendum on Maori seats in parliament, the RMA, Section 70 and Immigration are just a few of the promises made and broken by NZ First.
I was pleasantly surprised at the number of Maori who supported my comments and like myself believe a very few are getting rich from the Treaty settlements while the majority of Maori get nothing. It is these down to earth Maori who wants nothing to do with what is currently happening in this country, racism fuelled by activists purporting to represent Maori.
What’s currently going on in NZ closely resemble what happened in Northern Ireland but instead of racism it was religion and history tells us what happened there. I know personally what that was like because I emigrated to NZ from NI to get away from that sort of thing, only now to find it happening here but under a different banner of racism and apartheid.
Is this the kind of New Zealand we want to bring our children up in, hating their neighbour because of the colour of their skin or their ethnicity? We can make a difference if we all stand up together as one people and say, “enough is enough”.
New Zealand is a wonderful country that offers great opportunities to all who live here, and I feel privileged now to call it my home. Let us not see this slip away because of a few radicals who want it all without having to work for it.
Before I close, I would just like to make one thing clear, I have nothing against Maori, their language, culture or their customs. In fact, some of my best friends in New Zealand are Maori.
What I do have a problem with is that most people living and working in NZ all have their own culture and customs that they pass down to their children, the difference being they are not trying to force their language, culture and customs on everyone like Maori are trying to do.
Our problem lies with our gutless politicians who refuse to stand up against Maori and stop appeasing them for things that happened hundreds of years ago that does not reflect on the New Zealand of today.
