DEMOCRACY NO LONGER EXISTS IN NEW ZEALAND
As a so called democratic country you would believe that there would be no discrimination towards anyone in this country. The dictionary defines democracy as a system of government by the whole population or all the eligible members of a state, typically through elected representatives. This being the case why is democracy ignored by our government when it comes to Maori seats in parliament and now Local bodies wanting to appoint special none elected Maori seats on Councils?
Then there are the now over 90,000 immigrant pensioners along with over 60,000 returning kiwis who are being discriminated against and asset tested by government. This group are having their “self-funded retirement savings” deducted from their NZ Super despite having funded it themselves similarly to the way Kiwi Saver is funded employee-employer funded. This none democratic treatment of one group of vulnerable people is against their human rights but this means little or nothing to government who steal over ½ a billion dollars a year this way.
Our now Deputy Prime Minister Winston Peters own NZ Firsts party policies referring to overseas pensions states: Overseas Pensions are no business of the NZ government if entitlement to NZ Super is based on years of NZ residency. And this should apply to everyone. It is a pity Mr Peters does not remember this policy as he is now in that very same government that should have nothing to do with overseas pensions. Perhaps it has slipped his mind, or he has conveniently forgotten about it.
Our politicians have forgotten they were elected to represent the people of New Zealand not just a minority group who seem to be able to get whatever they want at the expense of the majority. When are we all going to live as one people in harmony with one another as New Zealanders?
2020 is the next date we the public of New Zealand have a chance to say who will govern the country for the following 3 years. Going by the politicians we have supposedly representing us currently by the time this date rolls round democracy will have been eroded to such an extent that we will be living in a pseudo dictatorship.
It is time for the silent majority to stand up and be counted because if we don’t this country will continue down the current track of self-destruction. The question must be asked is this the New Zealand you want to live in and if not are you prepared to stand up and do something about it?
We write to our politicians to explain our concerns to them only to be ignored, so the time has arrived to let them know we the tax payers of New Zealand pay their salaries. If they do not start performing and honouring their election promises, then we the voting public will ensure that they are not re-elected again next time round.
Politicians are supposed to work on behalf of the people who elect them but in New Zealand, here they work firstly for themselves and then for the people who elect them instead of the other way around.
