KAUPAPA-MĀORI APPROACH URGED FOR MĀORI KIDS IN STATE CAREMāori academics are urging the government to adopt long-standing kaupapa-Māori approaches to keep Māori children out of state care. A recent paper from the Māori research institute Ngā Pae o te Māramataka suggests there's still an opportunity to significantly reduce that number, with new laws under the amended Oranga Tamariki Act coming into force from July.
