VIGILANTE ROADBLOCKS I am disappointed in the central government, local government and the police for the way they are supporting vigilante roadblocks in the regions.
The fact that activists are conducting illegal operations with no legitimate training or authority, all the time ignoring government advice to go home and stay home, seems to be just fine with our elected representatives and law and enforcement agencies.
If the likes of Hone Harawira really cared about “their people”, they would follow government advice. It appears that the lust for power and self-promotion exceeds the caring for kaumatua and tamariki.
Meanwhile we law-abiding citizens are told we risk prosecution if we try to save our businesses and employee’s jobs by continuing to operate (albeit sensibly, safely and hygienically) or even go for a swim, paddleboard or fish off a perfectly safe beach.
All this for a virus that has affected only 0.025% of our total population. Where is the commonsense? Where is the justice? Where is the quality leadership? It certainly isn’t here in NZ. FIONA MACKENZIE, Auckland
